Hambletonian and Hambletonian Oaks hopefuls (e) charge in New Jersey Sires Stakes (NJSS) divisions at the Meadowlands on Friday, May 17. The colts are first with a field of seven. Though Greenshoe (e)will be the desired one by bettors, Ave Svanstedt’s Sheena’s Boy (e) is already primed for a soph season with a win and even as a second choice will offer a decent price. The second colt split, No Drama Please (e) may be ready to step into major contention in the division with a win here, where the crowd will hammer Trix And Stones (e). The “Oaks” femmes are among 10 in the fillies first NJSS split. Two debuts at three are on hand—Evident Beauty (e) and Sister’s Promise (e) and we will give them a race to warm up for the season while we go with Starita (e). She was great at two and should get better and this is a race that will give us the kind of price on her that we could back. Ten more fillies go in the other NJSS split. Solitare Hill (e) gets the 10 post, enough to turn off a ton of bettors but not us. This gal has some good steps and is already showing a competitive nature yet to be displayed by some of these. A good price is worthy of a horse this good and she should be left off the top four in this group by frightened punters.
