Not a Rainbow Six but a Rainbow single in Pegasus World Cup Pick 5
Whatever multi-race exotic(s) are your favorites, Gulfstream will be offering the all-stakes variety on the latter half of Saturday's Pegasus World Cup card. I'll be focusing on the Late Pick 5 that starts in race 8 and ends with the World Cup.
Race 8 -- W.L. McKnight H. (G3) -- Like several others in the field, #3 GOLD SHIELD (6-1) probably found two miles a tad too far in last month's $100,000 H. Allen Jerkens and perhaps was asked a little too soon. Allowance win before that was especially strong and better expected shortening up a half-mile. Willing to forgive #7 OSCAR NOMINATED (3-1) for his dull try in the Red Smith (G3). Proven more effective than morning-line favorite Bullards Alley in head-to-head meetings on firm ground.
Race 9 -- Hurricane Bertie (G3) -- #1 MARLEY'S FREEDOM (10-1) was far from embarrassed last time in a field that included Unique Bella, Paradise Woods, and next-out La Canada (G2) winner Mopotism. A filly on the rise. #7 CURLINS APPROVAL (2-1) is the established class over this track, while #2 JORDAN'S HENNY (20-1) and #5 APOLOGYNOTACCEPTED (12-1) have run well against better.
Race 10 -- $175,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint -- #6 RAINBOW HEIR (6-1), beaten a dirty nose in this race last year, will be our single in the sequence. Score in the Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship shows he still has it.
Race 11 -- $125,000 South Beach -- Connections of French import #1 WESTIT (15-1) have thus far avoided N1X allowance company despite her eligibility, a sign they think much of her. Closed fast in a division of the Tropical Park Oaks last time and is worth considering despite cutting back a furlong. #9 STORMY VICTORIA (7-2) is generally in the mix at the end of her stakes appearances and exits a strong third in the My Charmer (G3). #11 CELESTINE (5-2) loves this course and has all the back class, but potentially vulnerable due to the outside draw and pace scenario.
Race 12 -- Pegasus World Cup (G1) -- #10 GUN RUNNER (4-5) is clearly the top horse in the country. We also think highly of #2 WEST COAST (8-1) and will use him as back-up here. You can read our other Pegasus World Cup wagering suggestions here.
The 50-cent ticket:
3,7 with 1,2,5,7, with 6 with 1,9,11 with 2,10 = $24.
Good luck!
