Palm Beach Weekly Wrap 4-2-2017

April 3rd, 2017

Welcome to April racing at The Palm Beach Kennel Club! Lets get into the top stories we witnessed to end the month of March here:

Fraulein Morgan Gets Win #30!

The Fabulous One continues to amaze with her ability to find the winners circle this season.

Fraulein Morgan from owner Monte Jacobs picked up her 30th win on year last Friday in the Matinee finale, as she roared back to overtake last years Track Champion Atascocita Camry in 37.97 secs. She avoided massive trouble in the first turn and tailgated Camry all the way around the oval before she flew by at the wire for glory.

Morgan who is creeping towards an astonishing 70% winning percentage this season has this years Track Championship already locked up with three months left in the racing calendar.  She will be retiring from super stardom this summer, but how much more can she accomplish before she gets there?  With a St Pats stakes title already under her belt, could she get to 40 wins before its all said and done?  It hasn't been accomplished here since Switzler Jammin notched 40 W's back in 2007.  Whatever the headlines will be with Morgan going forward, she is making this season even more magical each time she starts.

Greyhound Racing Nation Hoping For A Veto

This isn't a Palm Beach topic, but clearly a story that all in the greyhound racing community felt this past weekend.

After a long and heated debate, the West Virginia Legislature voted 56-44 in favor of a bill that will essentially crash the industry at both Tri State & Wheeling Downs by taking away it's 15 million dollar breeders fund.  West Virginia who instituted greyhound racing way back in 1976 now has one last chance of survival if Governor Jim Justice vetoes the bill sometime this coming week.

The bill that will send 1700 jobs and 7,000 greyhounds scrambling by June 30th is an absolute disgrace in my opinion.  West Virginia who saw it's Handles of racing steadily increase over the past few years succumbed to political pressure and outside anti racing goofballs like Grey2K with the passage of this bill.  A state that is in desperate need of any type of tourism dollars and jobs is throwing away a business that helps, not hurts their economy.

I speak for everybody around the country in asking for the Governor to do the right thing and throw this bill into the bottom of a coal mine where it belongs.  VETO!!

Top 10 Rankings For March Released

After a one month absence from the top spot in our poll, Fraulein Morgan retook her spot at #1 with her continued dominance at Palm Beach.  She has now broken the record for amount of times being at #1 this year an amazing 7 times!  Only Rob Gronkowski back in 2013-2014 with six #1's could match what Morgan has done this season.
Whirlin Toodlelu from the Douglas Kennel with her near victory in the St Pats Invitational rose all the way to #2.  Janice Dean "The Weather Machine" with her two stakes titles this season took 3rd.

L's Cori Keeps Making Incredible Comebacks

I'm starting to see a pattern and it's just awesome.
L's Cori has made coming back from last place to win in dramatic fashion her style this season.  Early in the month, she passed an entire pack of greyhounds at the line to win (see photo above).

Well this past Tuesday, Cori did it again as she crept out of the box like she always does and fired on all cylinders at the end to steal another victory from her competition.  Cori now heads to The Show of A Grade where she'll attempt to win for the first time in Monday's Matinee 15th Race.  A racer you just have to see to believe.

Tyson Brings Back The Hits

"Kid Dynamite" is back to his winning ways, which is scary for any competition he'll face in the coming months.

Superior Tyson from B & B Racing took the winter off to get back to full strength and put all of his skills on display in Friday's Matinee, besting a talented field of stars for his first victory since January 6th.  The 40 time winner and last years St Pats champ representing the Bronx should be delivering plenty more knockouts as we wind down this season.
That's all we have for this week.  We'll see you next time for the Wrap Up!
