Palm Beach Weekly Wrap Up 3-26-2017

March 27th, 2017

Another great week of action we lived in the last 7 days at The Palm Beach Kennel Club!  Lets get into the top stories from the previous week of racing.

Nations Best Rivalry

There is nothing like rivalry in sports.  Duke and North Carolina, Michigan/Ohio State, Yankees/Red Sox.  When two gigantic superstar teams or athletes come together, there really is nothing like it.

Palm Beach has seen the best greyhound rivalry develop this season between two time stakes champion Janice Dean and recent St Pats winner Fraulein Morgan. Morgan stopped Janice's run at the Triple Crown in the Big Green Dance last Saturday.  This after Janice held off the season wins leader in the Derby last month (see picture above).

The two national superstars met again last Saturday afternoon back on the 660 Yard "Rhonda" Course and they didn't disappoint.

Morgan got the best of the Fox News favorite in this bout, as she zipped to the front early and held on for the 37.66 secs victory.  This was "The Bachelorette's" 29th season victory, a light year ahead of the next closest competitor in that chase. Janice finished 2nd, unable to catch Morgan in what was an epic battle to say the least.

With Morgan set to retire this summer, you can bet that the racing office at Palm Beach will have these two squaring up frequently in the next few months.  The world can simply not get enough of hearing about these two legends.

Here is the replay of last Saturday's throw down:

Getting Back To "Elite"

San Francisco's favorite greyhound is back to her winning ways.

BetAmerica Elite owned by our own John Ford got back to the winners circle on Thursday afternoon, flooring it late for the 30.33 secs victory.  This was Elite's first win since New Years Eve in what we all hope will be a super 2nd half to the season for her.  Keep watching out for Elite at Palm Beach as she works her way up the grade ladder.
The Mooooooooooose Is Back!

In what has seemed like an eternity since his last race, he finally is ready to put his racing spikes back on and compete.

Gv MooseIsLoose from the red hot Douglas Kennel is back after nearly a four month South Florida vacation.  The puppy that absolutely tore up Palm Beach early this year winning 9 of 10 at one point schooled this last Wednesday.  His next start comes this Tuesday in Race 15 which will have many fans tuning in to see if the Mooooooooose can yet again find his dynamic form.
Copycat Photo

If you looked at this photo, you would swear this was Fraulein Morgan edging Whirlin Toodlelu in last Saturday's St Patrick's Day Invitational.  Same razor type finish, same blankets.  In fact though, this is actually FF Moorea from Rader Racing winning by a couple of strands of tape to take the Grade A 10th this last Saturday over O Ya Sunflower.
Here is the photo from the St Pats.  Eerily similar right?
Life Is Good For Owner Monte Jacobs

Just give me one day in his shoes.....

Owner Monte Jacobs is having one heck of a year.  He has won two stakes titles at Palm Beach, finished runner up in the National Championship & and is getting married in the next few months.

He joined me and the boys of The Backstretch Show on 95.9 FM The Palm last Friday to discuss his girl Fraulein Morgan's win in the St Pats Invitational and his future plans with her.  He also updates the fans on how retired record holder Ethel Is Here is doing at his luxury farm in Claflin, Kansas.
