Parx Racing Pick of the Week for January 8

Tuesday's feature at Parx Racing (Race 9) is a second-level allowance with a $25,000 claiming option for four-year-olds and up at seven furlongs. #2 IT'S GOOD TO BE US (6-5) makes an awaited return from a layoff of more than six months for trainer John Servis after winning two of his first three starts last spring. The son of Tapit and multiple Grade 2 winner Great Hot still has plenty of upside, but whether he'll be at his best off such an extended break remains to be seen. #7 TIGHTEN UP (4-1) appears a capable alternative first off the claim for Michael Pino, with Mychel Sanchez named to ride. In addition to be a potent trainer/jockey combo, the five-year-old was a prior winner at this level last May. While largely ineffective since, he's tended to do some of his best work at seven furlongs, where he has a 5-2-2-0 record. We'll look for him to bounce back to better form under new connections.
