Place Prices Rule; 40-Percent Hit The Board For Cashing

Moving right along in the 2020 season, here is our Update, a report our hits and misses, from the first full week back to our regular publication schedule, covering our selected features from a gathering of tracks re-opening.
Thursday, June 11
Our Woodbine/Mohawk (WoMo) Power Plays were limp, though some of it was a lack of luck. Five races produced only two toteboard appearances, both completing triple combos: Nothing But Muscle ($4.40) and Siddhartha ($3.60).
A 10-1 defeated Cool Rock (fifth, 5-1) and Cruise Captain (sixth, 44-1) in leg one of the Pick 5. In leg two, Hetties Commander (64-1) broke on the move, finishing ninth. In leg three, Noneyabizzness (64-1) wobbled home eighth.
In leg four, Field Gunner (5-2) took home a superfecta spot, finishing fourth, while Tuckers Out (6-1) broke and left the main scene and Ongoing Royalty (45-1) ended up seventh, all victims of a 13-1 winner.
Lastly, trouble on the road affected Going Fast (4-1), finishing ninth-placed-eighth, while Northern Baccarat (15-1) took fifth.
Friday, June 12
At The Meadowlands, the H2W produced winners (see below), while our three features were bombarded by the public’s first- and -second choices. Con Air All (8-1) was fourth; Manofmanyimages (64-1) wound up tenth and Rich And Miserable (71-1) finished no richer in a miserable performance ending in eighth.
Saturday, June 13
There was zero power in the Northfield Power Plays, featuring the stream of a Pick 3 and all other wagers inclusive, since the winners were two public choices and one second favorite.
We had only one third, Tartufo Lady ($2.60). Otherwise, we finished fifth with Shadows Mystery (79-1) and Celebrity Lopez (61-1); and sixth with Foolish Terror, the beaten public choice, and Timeless Virgin (12-1).
H2W LIST RESULTS
The H2W results list across-the-board prices. Exactas listed include a H2W horse finishing second to a race-favorite or if the first two finishers are H2W horses (an asterisk appears when both horses are listed—a cold exacta). The note “ok” determines that prices are correct (even when a show price exceeds a place price or all prices are the same).
Please note that some results reflect horses racing after the blog posts (they appear the following week).
This week, there were 48 active horses (a 17-percent win hit rate and a 40-percent ATB [across-the-board] hit rate).
