Among the highlights of Monday's card at Presque Isle Downs are a $4,096.60 carryover in the Pick 5, which covers the first five races on the card, and the $75,000 Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile, a 6 1/2-furlong dash scheduled as Race 5.

One race earlier, #1 BAD LITTLE BEAST (4-1) is a promising contender in a $12,500 claimer restricted to nonwinners of three races. The 3-year-old is far less exposed than many in this race, and has room for improvement coming out of a tougher optional claimer/starter allowance at Laurel on Sept. 11, his first race since late February.

Another plus is Bad Little Beast's previous form at Presque Isle. A graduate over the surface in his second start last year, he next ran second to the filly New York Groove in an entry-level allowance/optional claimer in which he was offered for a $62,500. It was a sharp performance against a rival that subsequently captured the Presque Isle Debutante and the Glorious Song S. at Woodbine.

The potential pace scenario, with two serious speed horses, might also help out Bad Little Beast in the race, which goes off at 6 p.m. ET.

First post at Presque Isle is 4:45 p.m. ET.
