Rainbow Heir and other plays on Breeders' Cup Saturday

With the scratch of morning line favorite Polydream from Saturday's Breeders' Cup Mile (G1), I admit to no longer having a great feel for that race. Therefore, Pick 4s and 5s involving the Mile will not be a focal point of my wagering plans.

As far as Win plays on Saturday, I'll be sticking with my top selections found in the TwinSpires Breeders' Cup Betting Guide, provided there remains sufficient value. Likely plays include #6 CHARON (15-1) in the Filly & Mare Sprint (G1), #1 FOURSTAR CROOK (5-1) in the Filly & Mare Turf (G1), #9 WOW CAT (8-1) in the Distaff (G1), and #10 YOSHIDA (10-1) in the Classic (G1). Following Polydream's withdrawal in the Mile, I've scratched into #10 CATAPULT (6-1) and will give him Win bet consideration as well.

#6 RAINBOW HEIR (12-1) in the Turf Sprint (G1) has long been the horse I've been most excited to play this weekend. I gave my reasons a number of weeks ago and the analysis has not changed. All of the above will be integral in Doubles and Pick 3s I'll be playing through the course of the day.

I'll take a stab at the early Pick 4 that begins with the Turf Sprint. In addition to Rainbow Heir, I'll also use my second and third picks, #9 STORMY LIBERAL (4-1), #5 DISCO PARTNER (7-2), and the mare #8 CHANTELINE (15-1).

#10 CATALINA CRUISER (8-5) in the Dirt Mile (G1) would be a single for me if this were in California, but I feel compelled to include a little backup with home track horse #6 SEEKING THE SOUL (5-1). I'll also go two deep in the Filly & Mare Turf with Fourstar Crook and European invader #3 WILD ILLUSION (7-2).

I'll be doing a little more coverage in the TwinSpires Sprint (G1), using all the logicals: #1 WHITMORE (6-1), #2 PROMISES FULFILLED (6-1), #5 IMPERIAL HINT (9-5), #8 LIMOUSINE LIBERAL (6-1), and #9 ROY H (5-2).
