Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.
Friday, Oct. 16
Remington Park, Race 9: Oklahoma Classics Cup S. (1 1/16 miles, 11:51 p.m. ET)
After he competed admirably against open company all year long, the 3-year-old #4 Rowdy Yates (2-1 on the morning line) should relish the opportunity to face fellow Oklahoma-breds.
A four-time stakes winner, trained by Steve Asmussen, Rowdy Yates was an easy winner of the Oklahoma Classics Juvenile S. and Don C. McNeill S. as a juvenile at Remington, and he showed tactical speed on both occasions.
He is easily the most accomplished horse in Friday’s field. Only two of his rivals have placed against stakes company.

Coming off a decent sixth-place effort in the Oklahoma Derby (G3), Rowdy Yates can dominate the Oklahoma Classics Cup with accomplished jockey Stewart Elliott in the saddle.
Let’s bet him, over #5 Fast Breakin Cash (5-1) and #8 Deal Driven (5-2), in the exacta.
$15 exacta: 4 with 5,8 ($30)
Good luck!
