Scully: Pair of singles key to Rainbow 6

With a mandatory payout, Sunday’s Rainbow 6 pool at Gulfstream Park will be enormous.

Here are my thoughts on the sequence and the ticket I'm playing:

Leg 1 (7^th race): All-or-nothing out of the gates as I start with a single.

#4 Ultimate Cause should be fired up after being stopped on the rail last time and I expect to see Tyler Gaffalione make amends aboard a 5-year-old mare who looks like another savvy claim by Skychai Racing and Mike Maker. Loved her improving form last fall and Maker wins at a near 30% clip the second start off the claim.

Leg 2 (8^th race): Will spread six-deep in this entry-level allowance/optional claiming turf affair.

#1 Camila Princess is a must have following back-to-back turf wins. A couple of other short-price runners have appeal with #5 Nikki’s Cause hitting her best stride presently and #6 Nootka Sound looking dangerous for Wesley Ward in her first start since Royal Ascot. Offering more value will be #3 Midnight Soiree, who has shown a good late kick and is bred for turf; #8 Dark Artist, who gets Luis Saez & is eligible to rebound for Jane Cibelli; and #10 Newmans Fast Girl, who recorded an improved effort last time in what could be a sign of things to come.

Leg 3 (9^th race): Must include six runners in the bottom-level maiden claimer. All three firsters will be used along with a pair of lightly-raced types. And while I’m not keen on the favorite, it would be a shame to lose to the class dropper.

#2 Gitgo broke slowly when recording a decent fourth in his debut and it will be no surprise to see him show more today for Darren Miller. #6 Pekin ran well two back at this level and I like the turf-to-dirt move for the David Braddy pupil. #3 Kid Kantharos, #7 Octopythius and #9 Gran Red are all bred to run early. #4 Dreaming of Jo Jo looks vulnerable in my estimation but the well-bred colt is a candidate to wake up on the drop.

Leg 4 (10^th race): Four-deep in the fourth leg.

With mostly early/presser types signed on, #2 First Distinction is a must use given her potential to wire the field. #8 Para Vivir is eligible to receive an ideal stalk-and-pounce trip from the far outside post. I will also use #3 Princess Knoll, who should appreciate the switch back after a failed turf attempt; and #4 Leanne N Susan, who possesses good tactical speed and shows a bullet work in preparation.

Leg 5 (11^th race): Will take a stand singling #2 Stormymeister, who gained valuable experience against winners last time and will show speed for Victor Barboza from a favorable inside post. I like the Bodemeister filly wire-to-wire.

Leg 6 (12^th race): Two-deep in the finale.

Ken Ramsey appears on his way to a third consecutive leading owner title of the championship meet and #8 Paden is well-spotted on the drop today by Mike Maker. The BRIS Prime Power leader (122.8) will be running late and I also want the speedy #10 Francesco Appeal, who figures to show more stretching out an extra furlong in a field with much less pace.
