Scully’s Late Pick 4 Ticket for Keeneland Oct. 23

The Late Pick 4 sequence on Friday’s penultimate 10-race card at Keeneland features a pair of turf allowances and a maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies. Here are my thoughts on the sequence:
Keeneland Race 7 (4:24 p.m. ET):
Fourteen fillies and mares, including a pair of also-eligibles, are entered for the entry-level allowance at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf. I’ll kick off my Pick 4 ticket with a pair of runners.
#5 Abuse of Power drew off to a sharp maiden score when making her second start on Monmouth Park’s turf on Sept. 6, and the gray filly is eligible to carry her form forward here for Chad Brown. #8 Sequin has been well-regarded by Wesley Ward, who entered her in a Grade 1 stakes last fall, and the sophomore filly broke through with her first win at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 10.
Keeneland Race 8
A competitive field of 3-year-olds will square off over 7-furlongs for a $40,000 claiming tag. I lack a strong opinion and will use four runners.
#9 Backshot is eligible to improve in his second start versus winners, and adds Tyler Gaffalione, but I am not keen on his last effort at Monmouth Park. He still will be included with several others.
#1 Prioritizer ran one of the faster races in the field when breaking his maiden two back, and he’s eligible to receive a better setup after faltering last time. #3 Fire Marshall Bill is a little sneaky at long odds, and #7 And Seek fits well here for Dale Romans.
Race 9
A full field of fillies and mares will contest the non-winners of three “other than” allowance at a mile on turf, and I will take a spread approach.
Fourth to Got Stormy in the Ladies Sprint (G3) at Kentucky Downs, #4 Lady Lawyer is bred to relish the added ground, but she faces a tough challenge here. #9 Clara Peeters and #10 Winter Sunset are contenders for Brad Cox and Wayne Catalano, respectively. #3 Speedy Solution has shown an affinity for the course, and #5 My Gal Betty exits a couple of encouraging efforts off a long layoff.
Race 10
The rail post is 0-for-29 this meet at 6-furlongs, and 5-2 morning line favorite Devilish Wit draws innermost for her career debut. I will try to beat her in the maiden for juvenile fillies.
#4 Mucho Macho Momma is the top choice following a solid fourth in her first start at Churchill Downs. The winner, Midnight Ballerina, was impressive for Bill Mott, and runner-up Littlestitious came back to win earlier in the meet. Mucho Macho Momma figures to be prominent from the start with Joe Rocco Jr. I will also include #3 Hindsight, a $150,000 daughter of Pioneerof the Nile working well for her initial outing. She is out of Grade 3 winner Devious Intent, who won her first start by open lengths.
