SOUTHLAND Preview - December 26, 2014 evening card

December 25th, 2014

I sincerely hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and are enjoying a wonderful holiday season. After a short break for Christmas, Southland greyhound racing resumes Friday with both matinee and evening performances. These are MoneyMaker Mike's selections for the evening program and hopefully we can put some cash in our pockets to get 2015 started on the right foot. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.

Race 3 - Let's get started with this Grade M contest over the 583 yard course and the pick here is the (2) TJAYS SURGE. This hard running and late closing young greyhound may not be among the frontrunners early but with his mid to mid rail running style and strong kick from the first turn to the finish line, he should be able to run down the leaders. So far he has 4 top three finishes in 5 races and looks to continue that hot streak here. Starting from the two box, it's the closest he has been to the rail since starting his young career so let's see what he can do.

Race 7 - Here we have a very interesting Grade A race over the 583 yard course which features 3 previous greyhounds who made MoneyMaker Mike's 5 up and coming young dogs in the past few months and all have continued to run strong since being recognized. The (4) FLYING FIRED UP, the (6) TC'S MIKE TROUT and the (8) NB'S LEBRONJAMES. All of these are capable of winning in this very competitive field but I'm going with the (4) FLYING FIRED UP due to his consistency of having 4 wins and 3 second place efforts in 8 races. Already in A grade after only a little over 3 weeks of official starts, and with 2 second place finishes in this grade, beaten only by a half length and a length in each of them, I'll give him a solid shot to run strong here.

Race 13 - This is a Grade A contest over the 583 yard course and we have one of December's 5 up and coming greyhounds, the (6) FLYIN TURBO TOES who is making her first start in this grade. She is 7 out 7 in top 4 finishes including 4 wins already in her very young career. Though I like her as the key and won't be surprised to see her win, I will use her in quinielas and tri plays as well. Nice young pup with a bright future, she certainly bears watching.

Race 16 - Here is the MoneyMaker pick of the evening, a Grade B contest over the 703 yard course and I'm going with the (1) COLT CLASSIC. He's a rail runner who rarely draws the one box and I think the two shorter races over the 583 yard course that he just ran will help him regain his form in this longer distance. We might catch a nice price so he's worth giving a shot here.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
