SOUTHLAND Preview - Monday, December 15
Today's card at Southland Greyhound Park has 18 exciting and entertaining races on tap and several of these contests drew my attention as they feature some good plays with a couple of longshots to take a chance on. I have them listed below as well as a MoneyMaker play so if you're looking for an opportunity to put some extra cash in your pocket, you might want to check these picks out. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 2 - My choice in this Grade C race over the 583 yard course is the (1) L'S ZIPPEE. This is her first official start at Southland since coming here from the Dubuque track where she was 24 out of 31 in top four finishes and I like her mainly due to her drawing the one box here to go along with her inside running style. In her last schooling race she overcame trouble to get the win and with her early speed and great post position, I think she clears early and holds the lead to the wire. She's the key for me in this one.
Race 5 - In this Grade M race over the 583 yard course, I'm going with a young greyhound that shows good potential and it's the (3) PJ SPEED ZONE. He won't be a longshot by any means and will probably go off as the favorite but he's a solid pick that deserves to be played. In his first official start last time out, he ran a strong second beaten only by 2 lengths. Before that, he won a schooling race by 8 lengths so with his good rush to the turn so I'm looking for him to be among the frontrunners at the turn and to take charge down the backstretch to get the win.
Race 6 - Here we have a Grade A contest over the 583 yard course and the pick is the (3) CBJ TREAT. With her decent early speed and being back in this grade, she has a very good chance to hit the lid and be among the leaders right out of the box. Since she's not on the morning line, I'm hoping to catch good odds on her. She has 31 top four finishes in 62 races including 11 wins this season and with her inside running style and a good break, a combination I think makes her the key in this one.
Race 12 - This is the MoneyMaker pick of the evening, it's in a Grade C race over the 583 yard course and the choice is the (8) BLAZING. I like him here as he is a double drop in class having run in Grade A less than a month ago. With the good odds likely to be on him and with his good early speed, hitting the lid and avoiding early trouble should have in good position to challenge for the win.
Good luck to all.
