SOUTHLAND Preview - Monday twilight, January 19
Another MoneyMaker longshot Monday at Southland so get ready for 18 exciting and entertaining races. Monday is our longshot day during the month of January and all picks will be the same as our regular MoneyMaker play during the week which most of you know that means none of our selections will be on the morning line. This tends to lead to some very nice payoffs and more cash to put in our pockets. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 5 - Here is a Grade A contest over the 583 yard course and I am going with the (3) KIOWA JET JOSH to get the upsets started for the day. I like him because I believe he has a decent shot of being among the frontrunners early and finding enough running room on the rail to make a challenge for the win. There are some other early speed dogs in this race but he's a rail runner and if he can clear the turn without trouble I think at the odds he will go off at, he's worth taking a shot on.
Race 11 - This is a Grade AA race over the 583 yard course and this could be the surprise of the program as I like the (2) SE'S HIGH NOON as the key. It's a competitive field but he does have two wins and three third place finishes in his last six races so he's been on a consistent run as of late. He's a mid-track runner with lots of early speed as well as a late move that he can use if need. I'm giving him a chance here, especially with what I believe will be good odds at race time.
Race 14 - In this Grade D contest over the 583 yard course, the choice here is the double drop in class the (4) DUTCH BLITZ. Last season he had 17 top four finishes in 23 races including three wins but he's off to a tough start in 2015 as he is 0-3 so far. He may get overlooked just enough to make him a solid play and I'm willing to overlook his slow start as I think he gets things turned around in this race. In his last two starts, you will notice he has two six place efforts but he was beaten only by 3 lengths in each so he wasn't that far off the pace. I'm hoping he breaks better then he has been and if he does, I like my chances.
Race 16- Here is a Grade B race over the 660 yard course and I'm going with the (2) KIOWA TREE WHITE to get back in good form with a win here. He's a rail runner and hasn't had an inside post in over a month. With his early speed I look for him to be among the early leaders and once they get around the first turn, I look for him to kick it in gear, get the lead and hold it to the wire.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
