SOUTHLAND Preview - Saturday evening, December 13
Another Saturday evening at Southland Park with 18 exciting greyhound races of fun filled entertainment. In looking over the program I came across several races which show promise for some solid wagering opportunities and I have listed those below. This evening's card also includes Round 4 of the Arkansas Bred Futurity Stakes contest so all in all, it should be one heck of night at the track. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
Race 4 - In this race, a Grade D contest over the 583 yard course, there are 2 young greyhounds that stand out and I like them both to be in the money at the finish. The (1) SUPER C HENDRIX likes it inside and shows good early speed to go along with a strong late move and the one box puts him in good position here. He is coming off a maiden win in his first official start and may make it two straight. Also worthy of being the key is the (8) KL'S NO REGRETS who is also posted well as he has a mid to wide running style to go with his strong rush to the turn and a big closing run down the stretch. He is also going for 2 wins in a row after winning his maiden race by a very impressive 16 lengths. It's a tough call between these two and that's why I'll play them both in tri's and superfectas after I get a nice quiniela ticket with these two.
Race 5 - Another race where I like two greyhounds to hit the board is in this Grade SA Round 4 contest over the 583 yard course. This is one of the Arkansas Bred Futurity stakes races and I like the (4) KEEPER POCKET who has two second place finishes and a third place effort in the first 3 rounds of this stakes contest and who just a little over a month ago, ran 4th in the finals of one of the 2014 Southland Festival Of Stakes divisions. He is an impressive young greyhound with a bright future who likes the inside and shows decent early speed. I also like the (5) DK'S JUNIPER as she has 6 top 4 finishes in her young career of nine races and 2 of the wins have been in this stakes contest. An inside runner with early speed, she should challenge for the lead right out of the box.
Race 13 - A tough and competitive field in this Grade C contest over the 583 yard course and the choice is the (1) PAR DRAGON. He likes the inside and this will be the first time in 3 months that he has drawn the one box. Last two times he's had this box he has a win and a second place effort to show for it. I think the odds will be good enough on him to get a nice return on your investment so he's worth a play here.
Race 15 - Here we have the MoneyMaker pick of the evening, it's in a Grade A contest over the 660 yard course and the choice is the (5) DISTANT DAYS. He has 49 top four finishes in 60 races and despite having encountered much trouble in his last five races, still has three third place efforts despite being bumped and blocked. He is very capable of hitting the front so I look for him to be among the early leaders right out of the box and be a threat all the way to the wire.
Good luck to all.
