SOUTHLAND Preview - Saturday evening, December 6
The program for Saturday evening at Southland Greyhound Park is an enticing one with several of the 18 races on tap having solid wagering opportunities. Included on the card are two races that feature 3 of our 5 up and coming greyhounds for December running as well as a few other contests that really grabbed my attention. Have a great weekend, thanks for reading and good luck to everyone.
Race 1 is a Grade A contest over the 583 yard course and is one of my two MoneyMaker picks of the evening as I like the (8) SE'S HIGHONLIFE to be the key here. She likes it mid-track and with the 8 box in this one has a good chance to hit the lid and avoid trouble around the turn that has hindered her of late. She has been going up against some of the best runners at Southland lately including Flying Titanium and Counselor who she beat just a few weeks back so she's the pick in this one.
Race 4 is a Grade D race over the 583 yard course and I'm going with the (1) PJ EZ PASS as the one to beat. He has an inside running style and won his last schooling race by 10 lengths then came right back with a Maiden win from the three box in his first official start. A nice rush to the turn along with a big closing move makes him a big threat, the one box should finish the deal.
Race 6 is a Grade C race over the 583 yard course and features one of December's five up and coming greyhounds at Southland that I posted about back in late November, the (4) FLYING TURBO TOES. He has tons of early speed to go along with his inside running style and should be among the frontrunners right out of the box. He's 4 out 4 in top 3 finishes with 2 wins so if he gets a clean break, he will be tough to beat.
Race 9 is a Grade AA race over the 583 yard course and features the incredibly talented young greyhound the (8) COUNSELOR. He has been nothing less then impressive in the start to his career which in 22 races so far, includes 12 wins among his 21 top 4 finishes. Smart, fast and agile and one of the best greyhounds in the country, his racing future is bright indeed. He can run from any box and any where on the track so definitely worth playing each time out with the way he's been running.
Race 12 is a Grade B contest over the 660 yard course and here is the second MoneyMaker pick of the evening, the (7) FLYING TIGERBABY. I am willing to give her a shot here, even if it's a small one as I believe she stands a good chance of going to the front here. She does have 13 top two finishes in 31 races and even though she has been bumped, blocked and crowded in four of her last six races, in the two races she was able to get out early, she finished 1st and 2nd. I'm going with the hope that she hits the lid.
Race 18 is a Grade D contest over the 583 yard course and features two more of the 5 up and coming young greyhounds for December. They are the (1) KL'S ARIENA who likes it wide and despite starting from an inside post she does have enough early speed to find outside running room and the (2) CRAIGIE TROJAN who likes it mid-track and has a strong enough rush that he too should be able to find running room early. I give a slight edge to the (1) KL'S ARIENA due to her good early speed and a late kick down the stretch.
Thanks for reading and good luck to all.
