SOUTHLAND Preview - Sunday matinee, January 11
Welcome to another Sunday matinee of greyhound racing at Southland. Eighteen exciting and entertaining races are on tap for your viewing and wagering opportunities. I've selected several contests that grabbed my attention and these are listed below. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 6 - This is a Grade D contest over the 660 yard course and I'm going with the (1) T'S FIRE EATER as the key. He is a recent arrival from the Tuscon track and having drawn the one box, it does give him an edge. He shows decent early speed and is no stranger to this distance so with the edge in post position, and being a solid rail runner, I'm going to give him a shot here.
Race 8 - This is a Grade TD contest over the 660 yard course and the pick here is the (2) TJAYS SURGE. He's a slow breaker but once he gets it cranked up, he's got a lot of late speed and should be closing fast down the stretch in time to catch the frontrunners. Worth a shot here as there isn't all that much early speed to catch.
Race 12 - Here we have a Grade D race over the 583 yard course and the choice here is the (4) SE'S PETES GIRL. She's a young greyhound with only 4 starts but does have a win and two seconds so she is capable of a big run here. Don't look for her among the early frontrunners but she does have a strong closing kick that should put her within striking distance as they head down the stretch.
Race 17 - The MoneyMaker play of the matinee is in this Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and I'm going with the (1) MEGA VAST. He likes the inside, has 29 quiniela finishes in 57 races and in his last 4 starts from the one box, he has 2 wins, a third place finish and a fourth place effort. He has tons of early speed and should have running room in which to not only challenge for the lead right out of the box but to be among the leaders down the stretch.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
