SOUTHLAND Preview - Thursday, December 4
Thursday's twilight racing at Southland features 18 exciting races including four contests that caught my attention and I have listed those below. There are several young greyhounds that I feel stand out in the program due to their potential shown so far and I am hoping to translate this into some solid wagering opportunities for this evening. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 1 features one of December's five up and coming young greyhounds running in a Grade D contest over the 583 yard course and it's the (4) OSHKOSH GOOBER. This impressive pup won all three of his schooling races and then in his first official start ran a solid 3rd beaten only by a length and a half. He followed that up with a win in his second start and looks ready to run here. With his combination of a good rush and strong closing kick to go with his inside running style, he's on the radar for a bright future at Southland.
In the 4th race another of the December up and coming pups is the (6) FLYING YAHOO running in a Grade B event over the 583 yard course. Talk about a greyhound getting off to a fantastic start in his career, all he has done is win both of his schooling races by a wide margin, then win his first two official starts before finishing second and then last time out he wins in C grade by 11 lengths. He has shown a nice rush to the turn and an even more impressive late closing run from the backstretch to the wire. He has a rail running style but is a threat from any box.
The MoneyMaker play is in the 15th race, a Grade B contest over the 583 yard course and I'm going with the (9) FLY AQIB TALIB as the surprise of the race. He has 13 top four finishes in 22 races including 6 wins and being a drop in grade should give him not only the edge but a real solid chance of hitting the lid and getting down the turn in good position for his mid-track running style.
In the 18th race, a Grade AA contest over the 660 yard course, I am going with the (6) PJ REFINED to rebound in a big way after encountering much trouble last time out. This young greyhound is the real deal and she has already won races over the 550, 660 and 703 yard courses at Southland and ran a solid 2nd in the finals of the Juvenile Division in the recently completed Festival of Stakes tournament. Her racing future is bright indeed as she has 20 top 4 finishes in 29 starts which includes 10 wins. She can run from any box and I like her to get back on the winning track here.
Thanks for reading and good luck to everyone.
