SOUTHLAND Preview - Thursday twilight, December 11
Here we go with a Thursday racing card at Southland Greyhound Park that has 18 entertaining and exciting races on tap and MoneyMaker Mike has noticed some decent greyhounds that aren't on the morning line but who could help put some nice payoffs into our pockets. Let's call this longshot Thursday as three of our four picks below are listed as 10-1 or better on the program. These odds are sure to change but even if they do the payoffs should still be very good should the picks win. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
Race 1 - Right off the bat we find a solid longshot here in the very 1st race, a Grade B contest over the 583 yard course. The pick here is the (1) PJ RICCO SAUVE who is coming off a nice three length win last time out. He can run on the inside if needed but tends to have a mid-track running style. He is capable of a very strong rush out of the box and in all of his 8 wins so far, he has been at least 2nd to the turn in each of them. I like him to come out fast here so at with the nice odds he should go off at, worth a shot for sure.
Race 2 isn't one of my longshot races, it's a Grade C contest over the 583 yard course and features the (7) FLYING TURBO TOES, one of December's five up and coming young greyhounds at Southland that I posted about last month. She is 5 out 5 in top four finishes which includes two wins and has a ton of early speed to go along with her inside running style. She should be among the leaders here and I believe she clears the turn in first place and holds on for the win.
Race 8 has another longshot greyhound running in Grade D over the 583 yard course and it's the (4) ONE ATE HUNDRED. She came here from the Daytona Beach track where she had been running Grade A with 5 wins and a second place finish in 6 starts. Since arriving at Southland she has 6 top four finishes in 12 starts. I like her for a couple of reasons, the fact she has dropped from Grade B to D and the fact she's shown decent early speed in several races here. I am hoping she hits the lid and gets to the turn in good position for her inside running style.
Race 17 is the last Moneymaker play of the evening and it's in a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course. My pick in this race is the (1) BELLA ERRATIC. With the exception of a few weeks, he has been a solid A/AA grade runner since May and now with drawing the one box which goes hand in hand with his rail running style, I will give him a shot here even though it's a tough field he's going up against. This is the sixth time he's had the one box in his career and in his other 5 starts, he has a win, three second place finishes and a fourth place effort.
Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
