SOUTHLAND Preview - Wednesday, December 3
Welcome to what is sure to be another entertaining Wednesday of exciting racing at Southland Greyhound Park. The twilight program is highlighted by the 4 races of Round 2 of the Arkansas Bred Futurity stakes contest. Also running this evening are two of November's up and coming greyhounds along with three MoneyMaker plays so get ready for a fun filled evening of good wagering opportunities. Thanks for reading and good luck to all.
In race 4, a Grade A contest over the 583 yard we have the (7) TC'S MIKE TROUT, a November pick as one of the 5 up and coming greyhounds at Southland. He has 9 top three finishes in 12 races including 4 wins and 4 seconds and now finds himself in an A grade for the very first time. Competition will certainly be tougher but he won't be intimidated by any stretch of the imagination.
In race 12 we have another up and coming greyhound that was selected for November and it's the (3) FLYING YAHOO. This is a grade C race over the 660 yard course and will be the first time that he has tried this longer distance. He has had 4 official starts and has two wins and two second place finishes to show for them. Some people like to wait a race or two when a greyhound moves to another distance to see how they will perform but I have a lot of confidence in him to be able to handle the distance.
The first of the MoneyMaker picks comes in the 2nd race, a Grade A contest over the 660 yard course and I'm going with the (4) DEACON CLAYBORNE as the choice. Just a month ago he was running in the finals of the Festival Of Stakes 660 yard division so now being a drop in grade, and with having good early speed, I'm willing to give him a shot at hitting the lid, avoiding trouble at the break and getting in good position for his wide running style. He is a proven winner so well worth a play here.
Another MoneyMaker play is in the 14th race, a Grade AA contest over the 703 yard course and my pick is the (4) KL'S CHRISTOPHER who has 15 top three finishes in 20 starts which includes 5 wins. He made the finals of the recently completed Festival Of Stakes racing over this same 703 yard distance and came away with a very impressive 2nd place finish. He's a wide runner and will be closing hard from the backstretch to the wire.
The final MoneyMaker pick of the evening is in the 18th race, a TAA contest over the super marathon course of 820 yards and I like the (6) KR ALL AMPED UP in this one. All this talented young greyhound has done is go 30 out of 47 in the money which includes 14 wins and 10 second place efforts and in her last 6 races over this course has 2 wins, a second and a third place finish. Might I add not only did she make the finals of the recently completed 2014 Southland Festival Of Stakes competition, she won the prestigious 820 yard division trophy. She's the real deal and a solid play in almost every race she suns. Odds might be decent on her here as she's not on the morning line.
Thanks for reading and good luck to everyone.
