A total of eight sophomore fillies will travel 1 mile and 70 yards at Fair Grounds on Saturday in the $150,000 Silverbulletday S. The affair is part of the “2020 Road to the Kentucky Oaks” challenge series and offers a 10-4-2-1 points structure to the top four finishers.
Silverbulletday Analysis
I expect the pace of the race to be strong and potentially contested. #4 His Glory has done her best work while on or forcing the issue early, and she will be sent from the break. #3 Ursula, who stretches out following three sprints, will always be in the hunt as well.
Horse to beat #6 Finite and second choice #7 Portrait will be tracking while never far back through the opening stages of the contest. Upset pick #8 She Can’t Sing will benefit from the brisk early action.

Silverbulletday Contenders
#1 TEMPERS RISING (10-1) -- Consistent late runner broke through with a solid maiden win at Churchill Downs in her juvenile finale. Dallas Stewart charge has earned robust BRIS Late Pace (108, 103) figures in two straight, and she will get a healthy pace to rally into from the rail. Julien Leparoux rides.
#2 PASS THE PLATE (8-1) -- Temple City filly rides in on a two-race win streak for McGee. Sophomore has never run on the dirt following three grassy outings, and she is a wildcard on the surface change. Shaun Bridgmohan inherits the mount.
#3 URSULA (12-1) -- Tapit filly ran into a potentially special one (Taraz) when a stakes second on the oval last time out. Stidham trainee is bred to run long, and she intrigues making her two-turn bow today. The gray will be forwardly placed from the opening bell.
#4 HIS GLORY (5-1) -- Amoss charge is something of an all-or-nothing contender in the affair. Grade 2-placed Mineshaft filly is training well and will aim to take command early under James Graham. Likely pacesetter rates an obvious chance with her top performance.
#5 MAGA SUITE (20-1) -- Longshot graduated on the turf at Churchill Downs in advance of her stakes debut. Daughter of Palace Malice is improving, and she could factor on Saturday if she runs to her bullet morning drill most recently. Robby Albarado will be in the silks.
#6 FINITE (6-5) -- Golden Rod S. (G2) heroine is the one to beat following a fine 2-year-old campaign for Asmussen. $200,000 daughter of Munnings is 2-for-2 routing on the dirt, and she could receive a fine trip with a pair of pace players drawn inside of her. Chestnut will always be well placed with Santana taking the reins.
#7 PORTRAIT (7-2) -- Pocahontas S. (G2) third showed a lot of promise during her three-race juvenile season. Brad Cox trainee has trained in swift fashion in the interim, and the Tapizar filly seems poised for a positive effort with Florent Geroux in the stirrups.
#8 SHE CAN’T SING (8-1) -- Block pupil was fourth in the Golden Rod in the slop and major improvement is expected in her 3-year-old debut. Daughter of Bernardini impressed with a stylish maiden win at Churchill Downs two prior, and a repeat of that will give her every chance inside the final furlong on Saturday. Gabe Saez has the riding duties.
