Team Pletcher Must Watch Out for These 3 New Preakness Horses
Always Dreaming is a huge -150 favorite in Vegas sportsbooks to take home this Saturday's Preakness Stakes. But, like for most Preakness Stakes, there are plenty of newcomers that could upset Always Dreaming's quest for the Triple Crown.
Below are the 3 horses that I believe Team Pletcher must watch out for when it comes to the Second Jewel of the Crown. There are positives about all 3 that could lead to a massive upset over the less than even money Derby winner.
On April 29, he worked 5 furlongs in 1:00.1 at Belmont Park. Then, on May 7, a day after the Run for the Roses, Cloud Computing worked another 5 furlongs in 1:00.1. What it tells me is that the horse is paying attention to every command coming from the training rider. If he translates the sharp mind to Saturday's Preakness, I think he could upset Always Dreaming this Saturday.
That could be tough to do since Conquest Mo Money ran the Sunland Derby half in :45.3. He ran the half in the Arkansas Derby in :46.4. If no horse decides to go with Conquest Mo Money, he could make it very interesting in the stretch.
On paper, the Lexington Stakes winner doesn't appear to have much shot in the Preakness. He's a closer in a race devoid of a ton of front running oomph. Then again, Senior Investment won the 1 1/16 mile Lexington after chasing a fairly moderate pace over Keeneland's speed favoring track. So, you never know what could happen.
If Always Dreaming and Conquest Mo Money butt heads early in the race, Senior Investment might be there to pick up the pieces. I like how he's coming up to the race while McPeek is a great trainer. He's certainly worth mentioning among the new shooters now that Royal Mo is out. McPeek's charge also had a very fast work on May 8 over Keeneland's track. Will he show more speed on Saturday?

The Chad Brown trainee finished third to Irish War Cry and Battalion Runner in the Wood Memorial. Brown decided to keep Cloud Computing out of the Kentucky Derby so that he could prepare the son of Maclean's Music for the Preakness Stakes.
