The number of Saratoga stakes races added to the Road to the Kentucky Derby schedule. The July 16 Peter Pan (G3) will award points on a 50-20-10-5 basis to the top four finishers, while the Aug. 8 Travers (G1) will double the prize to 100-40-20-10 points.

The margin of victory, in lengths, for Tiz the Law in the Belmont Stakes (G1), the reconfigured first leg of the Triple Crown. Victory was never much in doubt for the Sackatoga Stable runner, who tracked a quick pace, took command, and powered clear to win unchallenged.

With 272 Road to the Kentucky Derby qualification points under his belt, Tiz the Law sits comfortably atop the leaderboard.

The lightly raced youngster rallied gamely through a :12.07 final furlong to finish clearly second-best and picked up 60 qualification points in his graded stakes debut.

Previously victorious in the Withers (G3), Max Player ranks 12th on the leaderboard and still has room for improvement.

The versatile son of Triple Crown champion American Pharoah parlayed pace-tracking tactics into a runaway victory in Sunday’s Unicorn (G3) at Tokyo Racecourse, where he scored by five lengths, in the stakes-record time of 1:34.90 for 1,600 meters.

Coupled with his previous victory in the Hyacinth, Cafe Pharoah has essentially locked up an invitation to compete in the Kentucky Derby.

The fast finishing fraction recorded by Cafe Pharoah over the final 600 meters of the Unicorn, even though he wasn’t asked for his best until inside the quarter pole. Cafe Pharoah’s sprint to the finish line was eye-catching, and he gave the impression he had plenty left in the tank.
