The position on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard occupied by Honor A. P., following his confident victory in the Santa Anita Derby (G1).

The improving son of Honor Code rallied strongly from off the pace under Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith to win by 2 3/4 lengths and secure 100 Kentucky Derby qualification points. With the 20 points Honor A. P. earned for his second-place finish in the San Felipe (G2), the John Shirreffs-trained colt sits second on the leaderboard with 120 points.

The margin of victory, in lengths, for Tap It to Win in a 1 1/16-mile allowance Thursday at Belmont Park.

Trained by Mark Casse, the speedy son of Tapit sprinted to the front, carved out quick fractions of :22.65, :46.64, and 1:09.39, and finished strongly to beat a deep field in the scintillating time of 1:39.76.

The Belmont Stakes (G1) could be next on the agenda for this rapidly improving Florida-bred.

The number of Road to the Kentucky Derby qualification points secured by Rushie, who came running late to finish third in the Santa Anita Derby.

Previously an allowance winner at Oaklawn, Rushie was beaten just 1 1/4 lengths for the runner-up spot at Santa Anita and has the pedigree to improve with maturity.

The number of additional horses made eligible for the Triple Crown by the June 3 late nomination deadline.

Some of the horses who have joined fray are Tampa Bay Derby (G2) winner King Guillermo, three-time graded stakes-winning filly Swiss Skydiver, and recent maiden winner Cezanne, who sold for $3.65 million as a 2-year-old.

The number of days Arkansas Derby (G1) winner Charlatan will spend on the sideline, after he came down with a slight filling in his ankle.

The setback has removed the talented colt from consideration for the Belmont Stakes (G1) and Kentucky Derby (G1), though trainer Bob Baffert indicated the Oct. 3 Preakness (G1) could still be an option for the son of Speightstown.
