Thoughts on the Breeders' Cup Saturday Early Pick 4
The tabbing of Sharing in Friday's Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) got is well into the black on Breeders' Cup Friday. We'll look to continue the trend Saturday, starting with the first Pick 4 of the Breeders' Cup sequence.
Race 4 -- Filly & Mare Sprint (G1)
#4 COME DANCING (5-2) has been the dominant older female sprinter of the season, her only loss of the year coming against Midnight Bisou over a distance arguably beyond her best. She's the preferred single over the younger Covfefe, who lost her only prior race against her elders at a short price.
Race 5 -- Turf Sprint (G1)
This race traditionally has fallen to course-and-distance specialists. #12 BELVOIR BAY (12-1), as we mentioned in our longshots-to-watch piece, and #10 EDDIE HASKELL (9-2) fit the bill. #11 OM (15-1) might find this too short, but he also loves this track having narrowly missed winning this race down the hill three years ago.
Race 6 -- Dirt Mile (G1)
I can understand the widespread feeling of trying to beat a likely underlay in #5 OMAHA BEACH (8-5), but he's arguably the biggest talent in the field. I won't leave him off this ticket, but our backup #9 DIAMOND OOPS (15-1) could be right there, too, with a continuation of his recent form.
Race 7 -- Filly & Mare Turf (G1)
#2 SISTERCHARLIE (8-5) has pretty much everything going for her in this title defense, but thoughts of Lady Eli's back-to-back losses to European foes leave us searching for a little backup here too. #8 CASTLE LADY (15-1) figures stronger second time off the bench and with, hopefully, more pace than she saw a few weeks ago at Keeneland.
Here's the $1 ticket:
- 4 with 10,11,12 with 5,9 with 2,8 = $12
Good luck!
