Trotters take center stage at Harrington on Wednesday
While rain showers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region may have turned numerous racing surfaces sloppy by post time, the Harrington Raceway half-mile oval was instantly made to feel renewed when it offered a quartet of events for trotters and had one that honored one special group.
Just past the midway point of the card, Myclaimtovictory (Ross Wolfenden) won a non-winners of $3,501 last five starts class for trotters as the 3-2 favorite in 1:58.1. A six-year-old Earl of Stormont gelding trained by Tom Kirby for owner Barbara Kirby, Myclaimtovictory recorded his second win from 12 starts this year and posted his 18th victory from 120 career tries and pushed his lifetime earnings past $135,000. More importantly he took home the ceremonial blanket for capturing the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition Pink Night At The Races annual feature.
Two races earlier in the featured $16,000 Open Handicap for older trotters, Royal Becca J (Jack Parker, Jr.) rebounded from an early miscue in the Shiaway St. Pat final at the Meadowlands five nights earlier to live up to his role as the 6-5 favorite when he gained command early and prevailed by over a length in 1:56.
