When and where to watch the 2019 Belmont Stakes

June 5th, 2019

With the exception of Breeders’ Cup Saturday, there may be no greater day of racing in North America than Belmont Stakes Day at Belmont Park.

The annual action-packed afternoon is highlighted by the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes (G1), the third jewel of the Triple Crown, but that’s just one of ten stakes races on the agenda, including eight grade 1 events. The stakes races will offer $6.45 million in purse money, and chances are we’ll see several past or future champions in action.

Looking forward to watching and wagering on all the races? We’ve got you covered! Sign up for a BetAmerica account to play your favorites, then head over to NBC and NBCSN to see how your picks perform.

Which races can you expect to watch, and when will the broadcasts begin? Here’s how the TV schedule is set to unfold.

Undercard races

The afternoon television coverage kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. This 1 1/2-hour preliminary broadcast will include coverage of the undercard stakes races, likely beginning with the Jaipur Invitational (G1). The 2017-2018 Jaipur winner Disco Partner will take on a competitive field, led by the 2018 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) runner-up World of Trouble and 2014 Jaipur winner Undrafted.

The broadcast should also include coverage of the Acorn Stakes (G1), in which Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Serengeti Empress will attempt to add another top-level win to her growing résumé.

Belmont Stakes, Manhattan Stakes, and more

The main broadcast on NBC gets underway at 4 p.m. ET. Over the course of three hours, the Metropolitan Handicap (G1) and the Manhattan Stakes (G1) will serve as exciting and competitive appetizers leading up to the Belmont Stakes. A 10-horse field has been entered for the third jewel of the Triple Crown, led by Preakness Stakes (G1) winner War of Will and Kentucky Derby (G1) third-place finisher Tacitus. Post time for the Belmont Stakes is 6:37 p.m. ET.

Will War of Will emerge as a clear-cut leader of the 3-year-old division? Will Tacitus rebound from his defeat in the Derby? Or will a longshot emerge and steal the show? Be sure to tune in and find out!
