Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Race History
The Platinum Jubilee Stakes is a Group I flat horse race run annually at the Ascot Racecourse in Ascot, Berkshire, England. Inaugurated in 1868, the race has gone through several name changes prior to 2023 when it was given its current name, which honors the memory of Queen Elizabeth II and retains a connection to the three jubilees celebrated since 2002. In 2002, the race was called the Golden Jubilee Stakes and between 2012 and 2021, the race was known as the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. Finally in 2022, the race was renamed to honor the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Prior winners of the race include two inductees of the Australian Racing Hall of Fame: Danehill (1989) and Choisir (2002).
As a featured race of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series, the winners gain an automatic bid into the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.
