Juvenile Stakes Race History
The Juvenile Stakes is a Group II horse race run each year at Leopardstown Racecourse in Dublin, Ireland. The race was inaugurated in 2009 as the Golden Fleece Stakes, named in honor of the Irish-trained stallion that won the 1982 edition of the famed Epsom Derby. As it stands, Joseph O'Brien leads all jockeys with five career wins (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) while Aidan O'Brien leads all trainers with ten wins (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023), both teaming up for five of the wins.
In 2012, the race was extended to a mile and also became part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series, offering the winners automatic entry into the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.
