Australian harness racing picks for Redcliffe

Australian harness racing is on target at BetAmerica tonight, May 6, at 11 p.m. ET, which is Thursday afternoon, May 7, at Redcliffe Harness Racing Club in Queensland. 

Here is our analysis for the nine-race card.

Race 1

This affair for horses 3 and older is riddled with vague winners. Atop the sorry list, we place #4 Groovy Miss Annie. This 5-year-old mare has deeper experience than the rest and raced well against some better pacers at Marburg.

Race 2

A group of non-winners — also known as losers always — will try to discover the feeling of being first. #4 Lanoch Boy got our support last time, because of some trip problems, and had the same type of misfortune last week at Redcliffe. He shines again against the same class for Nathan Dawson.

Race 3

From our personal horses-to-watch list (H2W), we pick up on #4 Guy Looks Good. The Mr Feelgood gelding deserves another shot, after he failed at Albion with good backing. 

Race 4

Though near guaranteed a low price, what is offered may still be an overlay for #7 Art Sunset. Paul Diebert’s mare was dynamic when she won through the needle hole last week at Redcliffe. An animated field is expected again, so the same maneuver could win another for the tough daughter of Art Major.  

Race 5

Another from our H2W list is #6 Newmerella Ladykay. Darren Weeks brings the 4-year-old Mr Feelgood mare right back at Redcliffe, where we see her main foe as #1 Coast Warning. Simon Jay’s pacer enjoys being with the top three when the line passes.

Race 6

The Dawsons (driver and trainer) do best with #4 Ritchie Bee at Redcliffe and will go at it again, this time against a softer lot, with more experience than success. Pump up the exacta payoffs with #8 Ima Regal Jet, who may fly wide early enough in the stretch for second.

Race 7

#1 Machin Out meets our H2W member, #4 Artistic Saint. The former was spent after a tough half last time out, though supported with fervor, and should be raring to fly again with more success late.

We must also respect H2W horse for his return to Redcliffe, after a shorter journey that failed at Albion.

Race 8

#7 Blue Moon Rising has more stamina and talent than his sire (Santanna Blue Chip) and likes to win more at better prices. He has raced well against some of the best at this level.

Race 9

Two H2W horses surfaced after our post on the subject, so we have our three choices — #4 Suki Dayo, #6 Arbit Major, and the original lone H2W bet-back, #7 Lonestar Lad. Watch your prices and judge for value.
