Exotics Plays for the Turfway Prevue Stakes

A solid group of 10 three-year-olds will speed 6 1/2 panels on Turfway Park's Tapeta surface in Saturday’s $125,000 Turfway Prevue S. #2 Star’s Image has yet to be headed from a pair of lifetime tries to date and I will give him the slight nod in his synthetic bow. Trained by Larry Rivelli, the gray colt made his first appearance on the Fair Grounds lawn on November 22 and held on gamely late to graduate over a solid prospect, and he followed that up with an allowance triumph on the same surface.

The son of Caravaggio has put in a local morning move to get acclimated to these surroundings, and I feel that the $175,000 two-year-old purchase will make the transition to the All-Weather with relative ease in this dash. Gerardo Corrales inherits the mount for a conditioner who is off to a flying start to the Turfway Park meeting. 

Atlantic Beach S. romper #8 Warheart has improved his Brisnet Speed figure with each start to date for conditioner Rodolphe Brisset, topped by his fine turf stakes win at Aqueduct last time out. The dark bay son of Omaha Beach has performed well in each of his three one-turn tries to date and is another who gives the impression of a contender that will take to the synthetic in his first local assignment. This Kentucky-bred gelding draws outside of the major pace in the field and will get a nice trip pressing the tempo from the early stages of the heat. Luan Machado has the call. 

Three Chimneys homebred #1 Touchy finished second best in the Tremont S. in his initial offering, fourth in the subsequent Saratoga Special (G2), and then graduated like a good thing at Keeneland in advance of Saturday. The Nyquist colt rated kindly before taking over late to show his versatility, and the bay has posted a pair of good morning drills on this surface to prepare for his local bow, as well. If regular rider Joel Rosario can navigate a sensible trip from the tricky rail post, then the colt will be a major player inside the final furlong.
