How to bet the 2024 Turfway Prevue Stakes
Seven sophomores will dash 6 1/2 panels on the All-Weather surface in Saturday’s $125,000 Turfway Prevue S. The feature on a nine-race card attracted a nice cast, led by morning-line favorite #1 Vote No (9-5) for conditioner Bill Morey. The dark bay son of Divisidero had a brief but excellent juvenile campaign and seems poised to build upon that in 2024. Purchased for $50,000 in the spring, the gelding was a nice debut winner on the synthetic at Presque Isle Downs in August prior to eclipsing the lucrative Juvenile Sprint S. on the Kentucky Downs green in his second effort.
Prevue Wagers
- $25 exacta 1 with 4 ($25)
- $10 exacta 4 with 1 ($10)
- $5 trifecta key 1 with 4,5 ($10)
In his two-year-old finale, Vote No came home a very good third in the Bourbon S. (G2) on the Keeneland turf course, and the Kentucky bred has posted seven solid morning drills in advance of his local bow. The dark bay gelding is possibly better going a bit longer than Saturday’s distance, but he is 2-for-2 sprinting and will save all the ground from his rail post, as well. Regular pilot Gerardo Corrales will be in the stirrups.
The Brad Cox-trained #4 Quarrymen (5-1) has won or placed in each of his quartet of career races to date and has improved his Brisnet Speed figure on each occasion, too. The Godolphin homebred gave a nice account of himself when making his local debut with allowance foes most recently, and his swift half-mile drill will have him ready to take another step in the right direction on Saturday, as well. This Street Boss gelding will be rallying into what is expected to be an honest early tempo under the guidance of repeat pilot Axel Concepcion.
#5 Tagliatelle (8-1), the less ballyhooed of the Eric Foster duo in the event, finished a solid third on this surface in his first run off the claim, and I like his chances to grab a share in the sprint at a nice price. The gelded son of Tapwrit displayed a fine turn of foot in his debut score on the dirt, and will benefit from being more relaxed in the early going while making his second run on the oval against this cast. The Kentucky-bred sophomore will stalk the pace with Walter Rodriguez in the irons.
#6 Tagliatelle wins on debut in the opener at Churchill Downs under Rafael Bejerano for trainer Byron Hughes! 🏇
