How to bet the Jamison Memorial Stakes at Sunland Park
A pair of black-type tilts will highlight the racing action at Sunland Park on Friday. The second of the co-features will pit eight sprinters going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt in the $90,000 Jamison Memorial S. #1 Let Him Be (2-1) is a sterling 3-for-3 on the surface and gets a good draw on the rail for his 2025 debut. The Joel Marr trainee concluded his four-year-old season with a sharp score in the New Mexico Classic Sprint S. at Zia Park and gets the nod to kick off this season with a triumph.

By Sway Away, the gelding finished off last campaign with a fine 7-6-0-1 mark with two stakes wins to his credit and has posted three useful morning drills in advance of Friday. The bay has speed but doesn’t need the lead in order to win, and the five-year-old runs for a conditioner who is good with layoff types, as well. Regular pilot Miguel Fuentes, Jr. retains the ride.
#3 Delbert Too (12-1) is just 1-for-13 since 2023, but the bay was a sharp runner-up in a local prep for this event and is a nice exotics piece at a nice number. The seven-year-old son of Marking doesn’t always fire his best shot for trainer Filiberto Quiroz, but when he does, the bay can be dangerous. Alejandro Medellin has the assignment and will bring the top-three threat from off the pace in this contest.
The Leroy Fincher-trained #6 Marking Canyon (4-1) has won or placed in 11 of his 12 career races to date and comes off a powerful allowance tally on the oval last time out. This chestnut son of Marking is quick in a cast lacking early types, and he could potentially take the edge and be the one to catch turning for home under Felipe Valdez. The gelding boasts ascending Brisnet Speed figures as of late and rates a chance with another move forward while forcing the tempo throughout.
#4 Diabolical Storm (9-2) has been on a nice run of form since October and overcame a poor break to beat allowance runners on the course in his 2025 debut. The Todd Fincher pupil appreciates this venue with a 10-4-3-1 local line in his career and is an obvious exotics contender with Irwin Rosendo in the irons.
