The morning line favorite, Painterpants, in the 8 post with Eric Ledford driving for Chas Norris, is at 3/1. Considering that she'll be leaving from that outside post and looking at her speed figures in recent races, I'm a little puzzled as to why she's been made the favorite, but she has won and showed at The Meadows.
Missplacedart at 4/1 in the 2 post is coming off a good qualifier and has Dave Palone driving for Ron Burke, the 32% wins duo, who are hard to ignore in any race. She's run at this level before and prevailed but after being scratched sick, never really came back to her best form. If she's sound now, she could take on this bunch, although she's had 4 races at this track and hasn't won one. She has placed though.
In the 4 post, one of the two best at the track, is Upfrontdragonswest at 5/1. She's zero for eighteen for wins this year. The 4 year old mare has had a trainer change to Bill Mt. Pleasant and has Brett Miller handling the reins for the second time with her. She has good early speed and can manage to hold on at the end, but her numbers aren't quite up to par for this race. However, with the new trainer and driver, this could change.
Ruler's Best at 5/1 with Aaron Merriman for Andy Rickert likes this track. She has had 30 races here with 6 wins, 4 seconds and 4 thirds to her credit. The Cambest-Incredible Finale mare has raced at higher levels and is capable of more speed than most in this field. If Merriman can get her into position from the 9 post, she could surprise.
Jimmy The Terror - and, yes, she's a mare - is still working on a win here with 4 races behind her. Dan Charlino drives for Kris Rickert and just missed the win by a neck, last time out with this mare. She likes an off track, so keep an eye on the sky with this one.
Ladystar at 6/1 in the 5 post, also one of the best at The Meadows, is trained by Tammy Cummings and driven by Todd Cummings. She's no stranger to the winner's circle at The Meadows, with 8 wins, 8 seconds and 8 thirds out of 49 races here. She's a Bettor's Delight-Western Hanover mare who has been very competitive at this level and higher, although her speed figures aren't quite up to par for this race. However, she has some back speed, so could run back to that and outdo her recent figures.
I Am Passionate at 12/1 in the 1 post has struggled at this level in recent races, although she has better numbers back in her summer races. She had a month off recently, so may be working into condition again. Brad Provost drives for William Provost.
Honey Dreams at 12/1 in the 6 post is the oldest entry in the field at 8 years old. She hasn't won in two years and Aaron Merriman chose the 9 over her. Not a good sign.
Third Times Acharm is the longshot in the race at 20/1 and starts from the 7 post. This closer, with Wilbur Yoder driving for Charles Vigneron, qualified here and then went to Delaware County Fair back in mid September. So she's had a little break. She's winless in 11 races this year but has hit the board at The Meadows in the past.
This is a race that may not have a clearcut favorite, so it might be a handicapping opportunity for the astute 'capper. Look at the speed figures and probable post position effect on running style to figure out which horse will get a good enough position to close in the stretch.
As always, safe trips and good racing luck to all the horses and drivers on today's program. Don't forget to watch and wager on Bet America where bonus tracks pay rewards.
