2014 Delta Jackpot and Delta Princess

Fresh off a victory in the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies that puts her at the front of the favorites for the 2015 Kentucky Oaks, the beautifully bred Take Charge Brandi looks to build on an improving and impressive resume. Out of a half sister to multiple G1 winners Will Take Charge and Take Charge Indy (who are all by the fabulous race mare Take Charge Lady), the chestnut daughter of Giant's Causeway is trained by the legendary D. Wayne Lukas and could find the bullring of Delta Downs favorable to her speedy style.

She's a longshot in the Delta Princess field, but there is something special about the SoCal-based Afleet Alex filly named after a wonderful woman famous for rescuing and rehoming horses. Maybe she hasn't been the most consistent runner in the afternoons, but when she has her mind on running, she's as game as they get.

So maybe the Breeders' Cup Juvenile didn't go the way trainer Lukas and owners Zayat Stables hoped... but this nicely bred son of Malibu Moon has a lot of heart. He's a short 5-2 on the morning line for the G3 Delta Jackpot having run well enough behind what are currently considered the best two-year-olds in the country. But note: he hasn't won since breaking his maiden in his June debut at Churchill Downs.

Even though we're a few years from Hurricane Katrina, talking about large masses of water in the gulf may not be the best thing. But in this case, it's a phenomenally talented two-year-old Stormy Atlantic colt coming in off a victory in the Street Sense Stakes at Churchill Downs. The Mark Casse-trainee is 5-for-6 in his career, with his lone bad effort coming in his first start on dirt. Definitely one to watch on the road to the roses.
