A look at Saturday's Late Pick 4 at Arlington

August 3rd, 2018

As we gear up toward its biggest day of the meet next Saturday, it pays to keep tabs on the goings-on at Arlington.

Every racing day, TwinSpires.com offers the Late Pick 4 All-Ways Bonus: 15% Win or Lose. Opt in and bet at least $50 into the Late Pick 4 pool and earn a 15% bonus on your gross winnings if you cash or get a 15% refund on the cost of your ticket if you lose. Both payouts are capped at $100 per day.

Here are thoughts on Saturday's sequence that runs from races 6-9.

Race 6

The top two choices on the morning line look tough here. #9 MOON OVER MONTANA just beat classier foes in late June and hasn't run out of the money in nearly two years. #11 HOT DAD freaked in his first try on the surface two back, albeit against just three rivals. Middle move into a slow pace on turf last time didn't pan out, but back at a proper class level here.

Race 7

#3 FLATTER THE QUEEN fared well in her turf debut and should be prominent throughout. #1 MCHENRY finished behind Flatter the Queen in his first start off the claim by Larry Rivelli. Can move forward in second start back from a long layoff with Valdivia staying. The class drop could be key for #5 GREYT OAK.

Race 8

#5 TRUMPI was second best in his local debut against similar and figures right back. #7 VITAL invades from Monmouth where he showed staying issues against presumably better quality allowance horses. Posted a bullet work last weekend for Dale Bennett. #2 LET'S GO MICK beat repeat winner in turf maiden win two back, but was lackluster on relatively short rest returning to Polytrack.

Race 9

Two-year-old turf maiden route seemingly a race to spread in as much as your budget allows. We'll go three deep. #5 AIR BALLOON was off poorly in his debut, but could move forward adding Lasix. He's a half-brother to multiple Grade 2 winner Mr. Commons and multiple stakes-winning Jungle Fighter, both turf specialists. #8 WHATA PERFECT DAY seemingly outworked what might be a more-fancied stablemate (#1 MORE THAN A. P.) a few times earlier in the summer. Dam a half-sister to Grade 1 turf heroine Vacare. Godolphin homebred first-timer #7 HOMEFIELD, whose second dam was champion Ajina, shows some swift works on the Poly for Stidham barn.

Here's the $1 ticket:

9,11 with 1,3,5 with 2,5,7 with 5,7,8 = $54.

Also note the Arlington Million Bankroll Builder. Opt in and play Arlington through Sunday and earn a bonus of $10 when you bet at least $200; a bonus of $25 when you bet at least $500; or a bonus of $50 when you bet at least $1,000.
