A single for Aqueduct's $58,827 Pick 6 carryover

There’s a $58,827 carryover awaiting bettors who can find the winning combination among 1,204,632 possibilities in Sunday’s $1 Pick 6 sequence at Aqueduct.

That’s right. The Pick 6 gets underway in Race 5 (post time 1:46 p.m. ET), and every race contains at least eight entries, equating to more than 1.2 million possible outcomes. The sequence will surely simplify once race-day changes are announced (there are several also-eligible and main-track-only entrants), but with 63 horses in the entries (averaging 10.5 per race), this won’t be an easy Pick 6 to handicap.

A good many bettors figure to build their tickets around Race 7, the Forever Together S. for fillies and mares racing 1 1/16 miles on turf, a race in which #5 Fluffy Socks (8-5) appears at first glance to be a logical single. Conditioned by hot trainer Chad Brown (who has gone 12-for-35, 34% at Aqueduct since Nov. 4), Fluffy Socks has hit the board in 10 consecutive races, including nine graded events and three Grade 1s. She exits a deceptively good fourth-place finish in the Rodeo Drive (G1) at Santa Anita, in which her stretch-running style was compromised by a slow early/fast late race shape.

But is Fluffy Socks a lock to win? Not necessarily. She hasn’t visited the winner’s circle since nabbing a neck victory in the October 2021 Sands Point (G2) and is 0-for-6 in 2022. Furthermore, there isn’t a ton of speed in the Forever Together field, so Fluffy Socks may find herself at a tactical disadvantage.

This stands in stark contrast to #4 Evvie Jets (9-2), an exacta finisher in five consecutive races. The improving four-year-old filly has been in hot form over the Aqueduct turf, setting the pace to finish second by a neck in the Athenia (G3) before switching to pace-tracking tactics to post a sharp win in the Noble Damsel (G3).

Evvie Jets has the speed to shake loose on an uncontested lead in the Forever Together, making her recent winning form and affinity for Aqueduct all the more appealing. Evvie Jets has been improving steadily this season and looks ready to spring a surprise in the Forever Together. In fact… we might even recommend making Evvie Jets a Pick 6 single.
