All Quarter Horse Card Saturday at Indiana Grand Race Course

Indiana Grand in Shelbyville runs a mixed meet from April through October, but will host an All Quarter Horse card this Saturday, August 13.  There will be nine races, all trials for upcoming stakes finals on August 27.

Quarter Horse racing in the state of Indiana continues to thrive and 2016, the momentum continues. The 120-day racing season will boast 20 stakes for the sprinters with estimated purses of more than $1.5 million offered during the season that features six all-Quarter Horse racing nights.

One of the most accomplished Indiana-breds, Pistolpacking Pepsi, is entered in the eighth race, which is a trial for the Bob Woodward Memorial Classic. He was the defending champion of last year's $95,900 Bob Woodard Memorial Classic after being honored as 2014 Indiana Quarter Horse of the Year. The 5-year-old gelding is trained by Ronald Brown and will be ridden by Jose Beltran.

In the ninth race, also a trial for the Bob Woodward, another exceptional Indiana-bred, Beach Cartel will be gunning for his tenth career victory.  Trained by Randy Smith, the son of Escondido Beach has won nine of his 12 outs. He drew post position six with Berkley Packer in the irons.

The card gets underway at 6:05 pm (ET) with the top qualifiers returning to action on Saturday, August 27.
