American Pharoah update

Triple Crown champion American Pharoah schooled in the gate at Del Mar on Sunday before galloping around the track under exercise rider George Alvarez.

The sophomore will put in his final major move Tuesday at Del Mar before shipping to Monmouth Park on Wednesday for the $1 million Haskell Invitational on August 2.

The bay colt is scheduled to take to the track at 7:45 a.m. (PDT) and go an “easy” five furlongs, according to trainer Bob Baffert. The conditioner added that the move could turn out to be less a work and more a “fast gallop.”

American Pharoah will return to Del Mar the day after the Haskell.
