Aqueduct: How to bet the 2022 Go For Wand Stakes
A well-matched field of 11 fillies and mares will run one-mile on the Aqueduct main strip in Saturday’s $200,000 Go For Wand S. (G3).
Go For Wand Wagers
- $10 win and place: #7 Dr B ($20)
- $3 exacta: key box 7 with 1, 8, 10 ($18)
- 50-cent trifecta: box 1, 7, 8, 10 ($12)
Butch Reid’s #7 Dr B (4-1) brings fine form to the race with four consecutive top-two finishes as of late, including a great prep run for this when a big second to Boston Post Road in the Pumpkin Pie S. on the oval. The consistently good daughter of Liam’s Map gets another furlong to work with in this affair and I believe that the added distance will be to her benefit.
Dr B possesses tactical speed and a nice closing kick, and I expect the four-year-old to sit just off of a solid early tempo before putting in her best run in the stretch. The presence of Irad Ortiz, Jr. adds to the appeal.
#8 Betsy Blue (6-1) has been first or second in 15 of 18 career engagements for trainer Linda Rice and must be included in a lot of wagers, in my opinion. The New York-bred four-year-old comes off a nice try when closing well to be a close fourth in the Iroquois S. most recently, and the 9-6-1-0 mark that she has compiled on the Aqueduct main oval is impressive. The Tonalist filly is one-for-one at the distance and will be rallying with good energy late beneath regular rider Jose Lezcano.
Multiple stakes heroine #10 Bank Sting (4-1) is a fine six-for-eight at Aqueduct and seems poised for improvement in her second outing off the layoff. The Central Banker mare was a smart second in the Iroquois S. at Aqueduct in her latest endeavor and posted three positive morning drills in the interim. Joel Rosario retains the mount and will stalk the early pace atop the win threat.
#1 Love in the Air (10-1) has been dominant in romping in her last trio of races on the dirt. The John Servis pupil faces a tall task on the class rise, combined with a tricky post on the rail, but she is sharp currently and will not need major improvement to factor in this affair with Paco Lopez in the silks. The Constitution filly will be in the mix from the opening bell, and she is expected to get first run on the closing types turning for home.
