Arlington Million scouting report: Mondialiste

Mondialiste is already well known to North American fans, thanks to his rousing rally to plunder the Woodbine Mile (G1) and his fast-finishing second to Tepin in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1).

Details of his prior career with Freddie Head, and his rejuvenation by turnaround artist David O’Meara, can be found in the 2015 Woodbine Mile scouting report and his 2015 Breeders’ Cup international profile. Suffice it to say here that the Wertheimer-bred has taken his career to an entirely new level since selling for $259,464 at Arqana July in 2014 and changing his residence to England.

At Keeneland, note Mondialiste’s traffic trouble as he must wait behind horses going nowhere in the stretch. By the time he can angle out into the clear, Tepin’s long gone. Tepin was always going to get the jump on him in any event, but a smoother trip would have helped Mondialiste get closer:
