Australian racing starts nice and early this evening, with the first race from Eagle Farm scheduled for 9:15 p.m. ET. Not long after that, Randwick and Flemington commence their high-quality programs, followed by Belmont on the West Coast a little later in the evening.
Here are a couple picks for the premier tracks in Sydney and Melbourne, Randwick and Flemington.
Randwick, Race 1: #7 Overlord
This Chris Waller-trained 2-year-old colt looks perfectly placed to break through for his maiden win. Overlord has had two starts and has shown plenty of ability in both.
In his last start, Overlord was last in the turn but made up a ton of ground to flash home for second along the fence. The winner of that race, Peltzer, is also in this race tonight, but you’d have to think the extra half furlong will suit Overlord.
The heavy track at Randwick tonight should also play in Overlords’ favor, as he’s bred to be a swimmer. Leading Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman sticks. I’m liking the 7-2 morning-line odds.
Flemington, Race 3: #8 La Chevalee
The Flemington track is also looking like it will be rated heavy, so keep an eye out for horses who handle wet conditions.
La Chevalee overcame plenty of trouble to snatch victory in her last start. She was boxed in as they rounded the turn, but when she finally found clear running, showed a great turn of foot to win in the closing stages.
La Chevalee had to get off heels, but went bang, when she got into space.

A very stylish win. @cmaherracing pic.twitter.com/e9WUx7EBvv
That win was over the same distance and same heavy track conditions she faces tonight.
She should race handy, and with a little more luck, La Chevalee will be very tough to run down. I'm definitely keen at those 6-1 morning-line odds!
Good luck, and I hope you find a few winners.
