Australian horse racing picks for Wyong
There’s racing action aplenty from Down Under tonight, with four Australian Thoroughbred meetings and two harness meetings available for BetAmerica horseplayers.
Wagga Wagga, Cairns, Wyong, and Wangaratta are the four Thoroughbred venues.
Here are a couple picks for Wyong. At the time of writing, they’ll be racing on a good track.
Wyong, Race 2: #1 Daksha
This lightly raced 3-year-old colt, from the Brad Widdup stable, returned from a five-week freshening with an encouraging run at Goulburn two weeks ago. He enjoyed a nice run just behind the speed and hit the front for a moment in the straight, but a swooper collared him on the post.
At 7-1 on the morning line, he’ll be much fitter for this run and gets his chance to break through against a similar class of opposition. Experienced jockey Christian Reith will jump aboard and, with a quiet run behind the speed, he might just prove too strong at the pointy end of the race.
Wyong, Race 3: #5 Mrs. Maisel
This 2-year-old filly, from the Mark Newnham stable, was also nominated for tonight’s meeting at Wagga Wagga, but the trainer elected to run her at Wyong.
In her last start at Muswellbrook, she lost her way after they rounded the turn, but once she found her footing on the wet track, she hit the line strongly.
With claiming apprentice jockey Tom Sherry aboard, she’ll be carrying less weight, which will help. She is also likely to get a good track. I expect a big run at decent odds.
