Australian racing picks for Canberra and Ipswich

July 23rd, 2020

Australia's capital, Canberra, will host a competitive, eight-race card this evening, one of three Thoroughbred meetings available for BetAmerica horseplayers interested in racing from Down Under.

The first race from Canberra is at 10:10 p.m. ET, and then racing from Tamworth, Swan Hill, and Ipswich kicks in and is available to watch via the BetAmerica app and desktop site.

Here are a couple picks to try and get your night started on a winning note!

Canberra, Race 1: #8 Street Cred

This gelding from the Micky Smith barn has performed well in all of his four runs back from a break this campaign.

I especially liked his win two starts back, which just so happened to be at Canberra, and over the same distance he will contest tonight. He also won over the same track and trip last season and hasn’t missed the board in his last three runs at the track.

He will carry a little less weight than when he last won at Canberra, and is drawn ideally in barrier 1. Street Cred won’t be one of the favorites, so he represents great value at hopefully double-figure odds.

Ipswich, Race 3: #2 Man In Motion

I will apologize in advance that we’re not going to get much in the way of odds here, but I think it is money for jam.

This 7-year-old was a convincing winner at Toowoomba when he resumed from a break last start, and he’ll only improve tonight. He is ideally drawn in barrier 3, and with his incredible gate speed, he will most likely lead and be very hard to run down over the 4-furlong trip.

Mocking and Beware look to be the main dangers if Man In Motion is too short.

Good luck!
