Australian racing picks for Ipswich and Ballarat

BetAmerica horseplayers have a smorgasbord of racing opportunities available from Down Under this evening, with four Aussie Thoroughbred cards and two harness meetings available to watch and wager upon, starting from 10:20 p.m. ET.

Here are a couple of picks for two of those thoroughbred meetings, Ipswich and Ballarat.

Ipswich, Race 1: #9 Sienna’s Choice

On paper, this Kelly Schweida-trained filly’s last run at Doomben looked average, but there were a few excuses, so it will probably pay to forget it.

The daughter of Love Conquers All has been racing against much better, and this looks to be a much easier assignment tonight. Fortunately, she also drops in weight, and she has shown she handles the tricky Ipswich track, where she hit the board last campaign.

The extra distance tonight should suit Sienna’s Choice, and she is an attractive proposition at those 11-2 morning-line odds.

Ballarat, Race 1: #2 Lexington Lad

All three of this Henry Dwyer-trained gelding’s starts have been on the synthetic surface at Ballarat, which he will tackle again tonight.

The horse has continued to improve as the distances of his races have got longer, and he steps up an additional half-furlong this evening.

Lexington Lad is drawn well to get a nice run behind the speed, and with even luck, he may prove too strong down the stretch. He has been knocking on the door, and tonight could be his night at those nice morning-line odds of 6-1.
