Australian racing picks for Rockhampton and Scone

April 20th, 2020

The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival might be over for another year, but racing never stops in Australia!

Actually, there is one day a year they don’t run, and that’s Christmas Day. Other than that, you can generally expect to see around five to seven thoroughbred meetings each weekday, and upwards of 12 across the country on a Saturday.

In terms of the big races, attention now shifts toward Queensland, where each year the city of Brisbane hosts its Winter Carnival at Eagle Farm and Doomben in May and June.

Tonight, BetAmerica horseplayers have plenty of action to follow from Rockhampton, Scone, Ballarat, and Nowra.

Here are a couple picks!

Rockhampton, Race 3: #1 Trump Me

I picked this 4-year-old gelding, by North American sire Statue Of Liberty, last week. He blew the start, over-raced, and absolutely flew home, but ran into a better horse.

With a nicer run in transit, he'll get a great chance to break his maiden tonight. He’s on the seven-day backup, and this is now his third run back from a break, so he’ll be nice and fit. Expect to see him flying home late, down the long Rockhampton straight.

He'll be too good for the rest of the pack.

Scone, Race 1: #6 Inferno Miss

Another one on the quick backup, this 3-year-old filly only raced four days ago. That was just up the road at Coonabarabran. Well, when I say up the road, I mean about 150 miles up the road.

That day she hit the front in the straight but was collared right on the line. The run was full of merit, though, and she'll get another chance to race on the pace and the perform well.

It’s encouraging to note that multiple winners have come out of her previous races, and tonight’s assignment looks easier than her recent tasks.

Good luck!
