Australian racing picks for Rosehill and Beaudesert

July 24th, 2020

There is plenty of great racing coming your way from Down Under tonight.

New Zealand racing kicks things off with the first race from Riccarton at 8:15 p.m. ET. Then, BetAmerica horseplayers have four Aussie Thoroughbred meetings to enjoy, including Rosehill, Doomben, Beaudesert, and Gosford.

Here are a couple of picks!

Rosehill, Race 6: #6 Dancing Gidget

This Chris Waller-trained filly continues to show improvement, and she looked sensational when she returned from a break with a win on the Kensington track at Randwick. That was her second straight win at Randwick, too.

Since her latest run, Waller has given her a trial at Rosehill, the track she is trained at on a day-to-day basis.

The extra distance will suit her tonight, she’ll handle the soft track, and while this is probably her toughest test to date, she looks as though she will be able to measure up nicely.

Beaudesert, Race 1: #7 Lemon Duchess

I simply couldn’t resist the morning-line odds of this young filly from the barn of trainer Greg Cornish.

She appears to have been overlooked by race assessors, because a disappointing first-up run, but there were plenty of excuses for that performance.

If you go back and look at her runs last campaign, she was racing competitively on city tracks, like Doomben.

In her second start last campaign, she ran well at Beaudesert over the same distance she will contest tonight, and with the same soft track condition. If she runs up to her best, she will be right in this.

Good luck!

P.S. If you’re having a bet on Australian racing Saturday night, I like #8 Miss Clicquot in Echuca's first race.
