Australian racing picks for Rosehill Gardens

It’s the biggest night of the week for racing from Down Under, and there is plenty for BetAmerica horseplayers to choose from.

New Zealand racing kicks off at 6:35 p.m. ET with the first at Riccarton, before Ellerslie joins at 6:47 p.m. ET.

A little later, Australian racing from Rosehill, Wyong, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast join the coverage on the BetAmerica app and desktop.

Here are a couple picks for Rosehill.

Rosehill, Race 1: #9 Shaik

I couldn’t believe the tenacity this Sebring filly showed on debut at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago. Not long after the start, she clipped heels and almost fell! Incredibly, she picked herself up and unleashed a determined run to win her first race start.

She is up in class tonight, but based on her debut performance, I’m happy to take those double-figure odds to find out if she is up to the task. With one of Australia’s best jockeys, Glen Boss, in the saddle, I expect another big run. Shaik will likely get back again, and flash home late.

Rosehill, Race 2: No. 10 Fulmina

I’m looking for the early Rosehill double, with this young filly from leading sire Snitzel in the second race.

Fulmina has had incredible form of late. In her past five starts, she has won three times and managed to hit the board on the other two occasions. In her last start, she won at Rosehill on a heavy track, so the soft conditions tonight won’t be a problem.

She is a filly on the rise and looks like she can handle this lot.
