Australian racing picks for the Gold Coast
There will be a nice transition from U.S. to Australian racing tonight, with Remington Park still running when all four Aussie Thoroughbred meetings kick off.
The Gold Coast, Muswellbrook, Geelong, and Wagga Wagga are the four Thoroughbred tracks available for BetAmerica horseplayers tonight, and two harness meetings will also become available at 11 p.m. ET.
Here are a couple picks from the Gold Coast and Muswellbrook.
Gold Coast, Race 2: #1 Beckford
This 2-year-old colt from the Kacy Fogden stable disappointed as the favorite in his last last start at Ipswich. While that is a concern, it is possible he just didn’t handle the soft track.
If Beckford can replicate his debut performance from Toowoomba at the start of April, he’s right in this. On that occasion, he overcame a few obstacles, then flashed home late for an impressive second.
His debut was over 6 furlongs, and the 7 furlongs tonight should suit him. He'll get a good track again, and is carrying less weight. His odds of 13-2 on the morning line looks like great value.
Muswellbrook, Race 5: #3 Our Tito
By North American sire Uncle Mo, this lightly raced 3-year-old colt returns to the track after a 27-week break.
He showed promise in his only start, back in October, when he did his best work late to make up a lot of ground for a fast-finishing third at Scone. Five horses from that race have since gone on to win.
With a couple trial runs under his belt, Our Tito enters this contest with a bit of fitness on his side and is ready to win fresh.
The 8-1 morning line looks about right and makes him a great win/place/show proposition.
Good luck tonight!
