Australian racing picks for Wagga and Ipswich
BetAmerica horseplayers have three Australian Thoroughbred venues and two Aussie harness meetings to feast upon tonight.
The Thoroughbred meetings include Wagga, Ipswich, and Northam.
Here are some picks to get your night of Aussie racing action started.
Wagga, Race 1: #3 Pushkar
The track is rated a Heavy 9 at Wagga tonight, so ensuring your horse gets through the mud is going to be the key to success.
The Tim Donnelly-trained Pushkar broke his maiden status in impressive style at Wagga last start. That performance also happened to be on a Heavy 9 track, so we know he’ll handle the wet conditions again tonight.
The drop back in distance isn’t going to hurt his chances, and young apprentice jockey Heni Ede sticks. She gets a 3 kilogram allowance, which means Pushkar will be carrying less weight than his last start, too.
I’m not sure we’ll get those attractive 11-2 morning-line odds, but 3-1 would be nice!
Ipswich, Race 1: #8 Sienna’s Choice
I picked Sienna’s Choice as the TwinSpires Aussie Race of the Night selection back on Aug. 11, and while she didn’t get the chocolates, her run was full of merit.
After she worked hard in the early part of the race to stick with the speed, she fought on doggedly down the stretch, but was just run down late.
Tonight she is drawn to do no work, will drop in weight, and the tongue tie will go on for the first time. James Orman has kept the ride, and with the benefit of experience, should be able to get the job done.
Good luck!
